Despite crucial strides toward gender equality, current data estimates that it will take well over 100 years to close the global gender gap. Yet, in this era of compounding crises, different genders are experiencing the impacts of climate, conflict, and economic instability differently. Policies and programs that advance gender equity need more rigorous, intersectional evidence that examines the individual and structural dimensions of inequity.
Evidence to Action: Centering Gender Equity in Responses to Global Poverty will showcase new insights from academic research about gender equity in low- and middle-income countries, with a topical focus on climate change, forced displacement, and global disease burdens. The conference will feature work that involves innovative and diverse approaches to the research process, engages diverse collaborators, challenges normative perspectives of vulnerability and resilience, and prioritizes policy impact.
Through presentations, panel discussions, and more, E2A will explore gender transformative approaches that go beyond merely identifying and analyzing gender-related issues to present new insights that promote gender equity and improved social and economic well-being.
