About the Africa Evidence Summit

On June 23-24, 2025, CEGA and NIERA will co-host the 13th annual Africa Evidence Summit, focusing on “Better Data for Decision-Making.” The Summit will spotlight cost-effective, policy-relevant, transparent, and inclusive research. Sessions will focus on climate change, agriculture, education and labor, financial inclusion, and other topics related to economic development in sub-Saharan Africa. The event will also amplify African scholars’ voices, incubate new collaborations, and innovate better ways to integrate evidence into decision-making.

This in-person event is free and by registration only. CEGA regrets it is unable to accommodate virtual participation or attendance for this in-person event. The registration link and event agenda will be posted early next year.

Call for Speakers for the Summit (Due February 13, 2025)

For the call for speakers, we welcome all topics related to development economics (including health and psychology, agriculture, climate & environment, gender, conflict & displacement, institutions & governance, and work & education).

  • We prefer studies that use rigorous impact evaluation methods (RCT or quasi-experimental) or tools from data science; but, we will consider all studies that have the potential to inform policy.
  • We welcome both African scholars and non African scholars to apply, however, we will be reserving a large portion of the agenda for African scholars.
  • You may apply to be both a speaker and a poster presenter; however, we can only guarantee funding for travel and accommodations if you are selected to be a speaker.
  • Researchers with earlier stage projects are encouraged to apply for the poster presentation, instead of the call for speakers.

Call For Posters for the Summit (Due February 13, 2025)

There will be two poster sessions at the Summit, where accepted presenters will stand by their posters and deliver informal presentations to interested audience members. This is a great opportunity for networking, collaborating, and getting the word about about your research/program!
We invite researchers and organizations to present a poster in two different categories:

1. Researchers: Researchers are welcome to submit an abstract for a poster showcasing early-stage research  in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) or to disseminate policy-relevant research findings from completed studies. We prefer studies that use impact evaluation studies.

2. Programs: We welcome organizations to showcase their work in advancing evidence-informed policy in SSA.This is also an opportunity for organizations to highlight capacity-strengthening initiatives (and relevant learnings for the community) and to publicize upcoming opportunities for African scholars.

  • Please only submit one application per poster. If you, or your organization, would like to have multiple posters, we request that you submit different applications for each.
  • Note that we do not have funding to support travel and accommodation costs for selected poster sessions.
  • For more details about poster size, appearance, and printing, please reference this document.
