On June 11th, CEGA affiliate Solomon Hsiang spoke at a House Budget Committee Hearing on the risks of climate to the U.S. economy and federal budget. Hsiang, along with other experts in climate science and economics, discussed how increasing temperatures are posing significant risks to people’s wellbeing, incurring large disaster costs, harming industries from coastal property to agriculture, and disproportionately affecting the poorest regions of the nation.
