Pacific Conference for Development Economics (PacDev) 2009

Conference   |  past event  |  Mar 14 2009

The 2009 Pacific Conference for Development Economics was presented by the Bay Area Development Association in coordination with faculty from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, University of San Francisco, University of Southern California, UC San Diego, Saint Mary’s College, Santa Clara University and San Francisco State University. The goal of the conference was to bring together graduate students, faculty and practitioners to present and discuss various issues facing developing economies today.

The 2009 conference was held on a California State University campus for the first time, at San Francisco State University. The conference was designed to offer attendees a choice of four out of twelve sessions. Each of the conference sessions consisted of presentations of two to four academic research papers in a given area of research. The conference organizers grouped papers into coherent themes, and paper presenters were also invited to organize panels on their own for submission to the organizers.

The morning and afternoon sessions were separated by a luncheon with panel discussion entitled “Is current Economics research adequately addressing health disparities in the developing world?”
