Work & Education Democratic Republic of the Congo

Credit: Alex Berger

Led by Jeremy Magruder in partnership with USAID, researchers are currently designing an RCT to develop estimates of the cost effectiveness of digital cash transfers of multiple sizes on a wide range of development outcomes relevant to USAID in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  In addition to studying many of the general outcomes of interest present in the other Development Impact Lab (DIL) cash studies, this project will also focus on the effectiveness of cash transfers in reducing conflict.  In addition to the cash transfer exercise, researchers will study a youth employment program in order to compare its cost effectiveness with digital cash transfers.
