William G. Nomikos

Assistant Professor

William G. Nomikos is Assistant Professor of Political Science and the director of the Data-driven Analysis of Peace Project lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University. His research focuses on international intervention; state-building; climate change and conflict; and intergroup relations. He has published widely on these topics and worked for the UN, EU, the US Agency for International Development, and the Council on Foreign Relations. His first book, Local Peace, International Builders: How the UN Builds Peace from the Bottom Up (Cambridge University Press, 2025), examines the conditions under which international actors successfully bring order, peace, and stability to fragile settings.
