Samuel Muhula
Samuel Muhula is a seasoned strategic information (SI) and public health research specialist with a decade of experience in designing and executing integrated health development programs. Currently serving as the Senior Manager: Impact and Learning at Amref Health Africa, Samuel’s extensive expertise spans the development, implementation, and monitoring of research portfolios, encompassing operations research, implementation science, and impact evaluations. Previously, he assumed the pivotal role of Research Community of Practice (CoP) lead/Technical Lead for Research at Amref Health Africa. Prior to this, Samuel served as the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Manager for Amref Kenya Country Programme. His proficiency extends to successful fundraising endeavors, particularly with major funding institutions like the National Institute of Health, USAID, CDC, EU, Global Fund, and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.
Beyond his organizational roles, Samuel Muhula is a member of a multi-country Network of Impact Evaluation Researchers in Africa. Notably, Samuel has crafted an Impact Evaluation Curriculum tailored for policy makers and Master’s students, conducting training sessions in various universities and institutions. Samuel has led numerous impactful research projects spanning Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Infectious Diseases, and Non-communicable diseases. His commitment to mentorship is evident through his role as an Afya Bora fellowship site mentor at Amref Health Africa in Kenya. Furthermore, Samuel Muhula is a prolific contributor to the academic community, with more than 35 peer-reviewed research publications and frequent presentations at national and international conferences. Additionally, Samuel imparts his expertise by teaching part-time courses in Biostatistics and research methodologies at Amref International University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
