Patrick Emerson
Patrick is currently Professor of Economics at Oregon State University. Patrick’s research interests are broad in both method and subject. His primary area of research is in child labor and he has authored multiple theoretical and empirical papers on the subject. Patrick has also published papers on corruption, rent control laws, racial discrimination, abortion law liberalization and its effect on marriage, incentives in labor contracts, and economic growth and micro-lending. He has published in various journals, including: Review of Economics and Statistics; The Economic Journal; Journal of Law, Economics and Organization; Journal of Development Economics; World Bank Economic Review, World Development; Economic Development and Cultural Change; Economic Inquiry; and Economica. Patrick earned his BA in Economics at Lewis & Clark College, his MA in Public Policy at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his PhD in Economics at Cornell University.
