Oscar Mauricio Diaz Botia

Doctoral Candidate, Paris School of Economics

Oscar Diaz is a doctoral candidate at the Paris School of Economics and a 2025 CEGA Fellow from Colombia. His research focuses on the economics of human and social capital formation in developing countries, with a particular interest in how violence and restrictive social norms affect human capital accumulation. Previously, he served as a policy advisor at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education through the Overseas Development Institute fellowship and held research and consulting roles with the International Development and Security Center, the World Bank, UNESCO, J-PAL and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Diaz holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Development from the Paris School of Economics and a Master of Science in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics.
