
Justina A. Onumah
Principal Research Scientist, CSIR-STEPRI
Justina A. Onumah is a principal research scientist and head of the Agriculture, Medicine and Environment Division at the CSIR–Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI) in Ghana. She is also a visiting researcher at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Her work sits at the intersection of innovation and development economics, with a focus on agriculture, enterprises, impact evaluation, gender and evidence-informed policymaking. Beyond research, she is committed to policy and stakeholder engagement and mentorship. She is the founder of GirledUp Ghana, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing girls’ leadership and participation in STEM.
She holds a doctoral degree in development studies and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Ghana and has completed academic exchanges at the University of Guelph in Canada, the University of Bonn in Germany and Aalborg University in Denmark. She is also an alumna of Cornell University’s STARS Program.
