Josh Cohen

Josh Cohen is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the School of Law, the Department of Philosophy, and the Department of Political Science at UC-Berkeley. He was previously the Marta Sutton Weeks Professor of Ethics in Society and professor of philosophy and of law at Stanford University, and the Leon and Anne Goldberg Professor of the Humanities and professor of philosophy and of political science at MIT. Josh’s recent books include Philosophy, Politics, Democracy; Rousseau: A Free Community of Equals; and The Arc of the Moral Universe and Other Essays. He is coeditor of Boston Review; has given the 2007 Tanner Lectures at UC-Berkeley, the 2011 Dewey Lecture at the University of Chicago, and the 2012 Comte Lectures at the London School of Economics; and is coeditor of the Norton Introduction to Philosophy. Josh received his BA and MA from Yale University and his PhD in philosophy from Harvard University.
