
Jorge David Mantilla

Jorge David Mantilla is a Lecturer in Economic Anthropology at Universidad de Otavalo and a 2026 CEGA Fellow from Ecuador. His research focuses on social cohesion, prosocial behavior, and transnational migration, particularly how mobility, inequality, and institutional frameworks shape collective action and social relations. Previously, he worked as a consultant for the International Organization for Migration and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. Mantilla holds a doctoral degree in Anthropology from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Spain and a master’s degree in Anthropology and Development from Radboud University in the Netherlands.
