Jorge David Mantilla

Jorge David Mantilla is a lecturer in economic anthropology at Universidad de Otavalo in Ecuador. He holds a doctoral degree in anthropology from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Spain and a master’s degree in anthropology and development from Radboud University in the Netherlands. His work combines anthropological theory with applied research, with a focus on the social dimensions of economic processes. Alongside his academic career, he has worked as a consultant for international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. His research interests include social cohesion, prosocial behavior and transnational migration, with an emphasis on how mobility, inequality and institutional frameworks shape collective action and social relations across cultural contexts.
