
Jonathan Proctor
Assistant Professor
Jonathan Proctor is an Assistant Professor in Food and Resource Economics at the University of British Columbia, where his research examines the impacts of climate change on global agricultural productivity and food security. His work combines environmental economics, satellite imagery, and machine learning to measure climate vulnerability and socioeconomic conditions at fine spatial scales. He has published in journals including, Nature, Science, PNAS, Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Nature Food, and his research aims to produce policy-relevant evidence on climate impacts and adaptation. Before starting at UBC, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard, and a PhD student in UC Berkeley’s Agricultural and Resource Economics program.
