Johannes Sonneborn

GE Intern

Johannes Sonneborn is an intern at CEGA affiliated with the General Equilibrium Effects team. He is pursuing a B.Sc. in Economics & Corporate Management at Zeppelin University, Germany, and has been at UC Berkeley as a visiting student since January 2026. Since May 2026, he has been working under the supervision of Professor Edward Miguel on the effects of unconditional cash transfers on child educational and health outcomes in Kenya. Prior to this, he worked as a research assistant at the Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin (LEIZ), coordinating an international academic volume with contributors across four continents, and co-authored a forthcoming publication on the role of machine learning in the green energy transition. His work is mainly focused on development and resource economics, with a particular interest in inequality and policy interventions across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
