
George Temba
Research Fellow, the Economic and Social Research Foundation
George Temba is a Research Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Foundation in Tanzania and a 2026 visiting fellow at the Center for Effective Global Action at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on health economics, early childhood development and social protection, with an emphasis on how social protection and behavioral interventions affect welfare and human capital outcomes in East Africa. He is a PhD Student in Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, where his dissertation examines the effects of health insurance on health-seeking behavior and catastrophic health expenditure using advanced econometric and structural equation modeling techniques. George has led and contributed to several policy and research projects with organizations such as IDRC, IFPRI and UNICEF in Tanzania. His work combines rigorous empirical analysis with practical policy application to generate actionable insights for inclusive and sustainable development.
