Gareth Nellis is an associate professor of political science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he specializes in comparative politics, political economy, and modern South Asia. He received his PhD from Yale University. Prior to coming to UCSD, he was the Evidence in Governance and Politics Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. His work examines how democratic institutions accommodate social diversity and internal mobility.
