Chiman Cheung

Chiman Cheung is a postdoctoral scholar at CEGA, where he coordinates the launch of a large-scale household panel survey in Zambia to evaluate the economic, social, and environmental impacts of the copper mining industry. The project is conducted in collaboration with Anja Benshaul-Tolonen at Barnard College, Edward Miguel and Jonathan Weigel at UC Berkeley, and Dale Mudenda at the University of Zambia. His other research studies how access to information and the incentives of local leaders shape community collective action against environmental harms, with a focus on artisanal and small-scale mining in Ghana. He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley.
