Andrew Hobbs is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of San Francisco. His research combines satellite imagery, machine learning, and household surveys to study how technology helps people in low- and middle-income countries adapt to climate change, with current work on index insurance for smallholder farmers, the drivers of deforestation and agricultural residue burning, and the impacts of AI in low- and middle-income economies. He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Davis.
