Alebel Weldesilassie

Dr. Alebel Weldesilassie is currently a Lead Researcher at the Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute (Former Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI)). He worked as a Country Economist at the International Growth Center (IGC), directed by London School of Economics and Oxford University. He has served as a member of the national technical committees in different sectoral policies and strategy formulations in Ethiopia. Dr. Alebel also teached Development Economics in the department of Economics in Addis Ababa University. His research focuses on Agriculture, Poverty and Welfare Policy related issues, with application of micro-econometrics and impact evaluation techniques. Weldesilassie holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Hohenheim University, Germany and a M.Sc. in Economics (Economic Policy Analysis) from Addis Ababa University.
