The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), together with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), will convene researchers and decision makers from local and international NGOs to share results from the Syrian Refugee Life Study (S-RLS).
This event will be held in person in Amman, Jordan.
As an increasing number of refugee crises become measured in years instead of months, programmatic focus has shifted from emergency response towards recovery and durable solutions. The S-RLS used an RCT to study the impact of a housing subsidy program for Syrian refugees in Jordan, and found surprising results. Unexpectedly, households participating in the program experienced increased food insecurity, decreased child wellbeing, and overall heightened tensions between hosts and refugees. Given the rapidly changing political climate in Syria following the ouster of Assad, and the international overhaul of humanitarian aid, it is more critical than ever to have evidence-based responses to these crises. Join us for an in depth look at the Syrian Refugee Life Study and take part in conversations on refugee aid, the future of Syria, and more.
This event is invite-only.
This project was partly funded by UK International Development, awarded through Innovation for Poverty Action’s Peace & Recovery Program.
