Refugees and Migration Convening 2018
Humanitarian crises in Syria, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Venezuela, and other countries have resulted in an explosion of migration around the world, with several million refugees crossing borders in just the last year. There are also persistent flows of economic and climate migrants, many from and within the African continent, which will experience the greatest population growth globally over the next 20 years. Refugees suffer greatly from lack of documentation, along with opportunities and basic services; displaced women disproportionately face threats of discrimination, trafficking, and sexual violence.
On June 26th, 2018, CEGA hosted its first all-day convening on effective responses to the global refugee crisis. Participating researchers, NGO partners, and donors shared knowledge, discussed priority areas of inquiry, and identified opportunities for innovation and collaboration on a range of important topics.
