Geospatial Analysis for Development (Geo4Dev) Workshop

On June 24th, 2020, CEGA and New Light Technologies Inc. will host a one-day Geospatial Analysis for Development (Geo4Dev) Summer Workshop on the sidelines of CEGA’s 9th Annual East Africa Social Science Translation (EASST) Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop is designed to equip 35-40 East African scholars with the skills and resources they need to identify, analyze, and address challenges related to poverty and economic development using geospatial and remote sensing data.

Modules will include:
– Introduction to working with geospatial data
– Merging geospatial data with administrative and survey data
– Integrating geospatial data into rigorous impact evaluations
– Engaging policy makers and practitioners in the use of geospatial analysis for decision-making

About CEGA’s Geo4Dev Initiative: Through innovative academic research and training, the Geo4Dev Initiative leverages geospatial and remote sensing data for the targeting, design, and evaluation of social and economic development programs. Geo4Dev drives the development of new analytical tools and methods for conducting geospatial analysis across diverse sectors including agriculture and food security, urbanization, climate change, humanitarian crisis, and disaster response. Together, CEGA and NLT represent a global network of leading researchers, government ministries, NGOs, and private enterprises to inspire novel research collaborations, share knowledge, and build capacity to utilize geospatial data, tools, and approaches.
