Energy and Economic Growth: Sub-Saharan Africa Policy Workshop

Conference   |  past event  |  Jul 14 2016

Energy and Economic Growth (EEG) is a new applied research program led Oxford Policy Management (OPM) in partnership with CEGA and the Energy Institute @ Haas. The program is funded by the UK Government through UK Aid. On July 14th, EEG hosted a Sub-Saharan policy workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (the first of two regional policy workshops to be held this year). The one-day workshop engaged 40 participants – including senior energy policymakers, East African and international scholars, and a handful of private sector partners.Through a series of plenary talks and panels, speakers discussed numerous topics related to energy and growth including approaches to expanding access to electricity, meeting energy demand, and planning for more efficient power grids. Lessons learned from the workshop will help shape the EEG research agenda moving forward.
