8th Annual EASST Summit

The 8th Annual EASST Summit was held at Sarova Panafric in Nairobi, Kenya on July 22-23, 2019. This years event brought together over 200 diverse participants, who discussed the latest research on economic development, health, agriculture, financial inclusion, and labour markets in East Africa.   • July 22: Featured the dissemination of policy relevant research a round table discussion on data systems for Universal Health Coverage.
  • July 23: Featured early stage research on Youth, Health, and Agriculture and Financial Inclusion. Day 2 also featured a discussion on new directions for the EASST fellow alumni-led organization, a panel on practitioner perspectives on various approaches to supporting African Impact Evaluation capacity, and donors offering their take on supporting the evidence ecosystem in Africa.
  • At the end of the day there were two optional sessions: 1) A research transparency training facilitated by the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (open) and 2) A research-policymaker matchmaking workshop (invitation only) facilitated by Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA).
