Dave Donaldson

Economics, Stanford University

Dave Donaldson is an Associate Professor of Economics at Stanford and was previously an Associate Professor of Economics at MIT.  His research concerns the impact of market integration - due to enhanced international or intra-national trade - on the process of economic development.  He has conducted research on the impact of improved transportation infrastructure in India and the (19th Century) United States, the role of trade across regions in preventing famine and in mitigating the effects of climate change, and on measuring the costs of transporting goods in sub-Saharan Africa (as well as the barriers to perfect competition that high transport costs create).
