PacDev is one of a handful of major annual conferences dedicated to international development. Working Group in African Political Economy (WGAPE) January 2017

The Working Group in African Political Economy (WGAPE) brings together faculty and advanced graduate students in Economics and Political Science who combine field research experience in Africa with training in political economy methods. The group meets semi-annually to discuss the work-in-progress of its core members and invited guests. This special meeting will be hosted at NYU Abu Dhabi and will expand upon the original model, with a research discussion session and methods training module.

The meeting will feature keynote speakers, an announcement of the 2016 Leamer-Rosenthal Prizes for Open Social Science, results from SSMART grants, and selected research from a call for papers.

Energy and Economic Growth: Research & Matchmaking Conference

EEG (led by Oxford Policy Management in partnership with CEGA and the Energy Institute @ Haas) hosted a two-day research and matchmaking conference in Washington, D.C. The conference solicited feedback from policymakers and practitioners on 18 State-of-Knowledge papers drafted in year one, and engaged experts on topics of critical importance to the energy sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Annual Conference on Measurement Technology (III): Infrastructure Monitoring

On Thursday, October 13th the DIME group of the World Bank and CEGA co-hosted a workshop at UC Berkeley, on new technologies to monitor performance of infrastructure investments in the developing world. The aim is to sensitize development researchers and practitioners to the promise of sensor networks, remote sensing, and other technologies for measuring and evaluating the performance of transport systems, utilities (eg power, water) and rural infrastructure (eg irrigation, warehousing, etc).

Agriculture in Africa: Translating Evidence from RCTs into Policy to Benefit Smallholders
